Here is a little bit of report about the Fedora Install Fest that we had last Sunday.
Everything started on Saturday, in fact, as our Fedora local Paris user group organised a meal at a restaurant. Being altogether and speaking abour Fedora is always a great moment to live and I would like to thank everybody who attend this meal. We were 22 people at the restaurant and the room was very busy. It was hard to talk to people and I regret not having been able to talk everyone. So I also would like to apologize for not having been able to be with every one of you.
I aslo would like to thank Yaakov for his visit. Having someone from the Fedora Project for an event here in France was the first time for the community. I really hope everything went well for him and that he had a great journey and time with us all.
Finally, I wanted to thank Max for all the gifts he gave Yaakov for us. Be sure we will make good use of them for the sake of the Fedora Community.
Everything started slowly. And this was a bit of a relief, letting us time to acomodate and be able to organize ourselves for the conferences. We installed about 10 Fedora. Only on laptops.
Among all the topics that were discussed, I don't think people are very interested in at first sight about how the whole Project works, but much more in "how I can do this and this on my computer". Of course, these things are important for them to know about and it is our role to help them getting out of their problems and aware, little by little, of how all the Fedora project works.
We had conferences. all of the plained session could not have been done due to lack of time unfortunately. They were all very interesting ones, but it seems people were not that well informed about the planning. Moreover, it remains very hard to know what the audience will be. Some people among the crowd were aware and had already strong knowledge of what people were talking about. Unfortunately, this was not the case of every one. There are some solutions about this we could figure out to help people know if is is "experienced" enough to attend.
About schwags, we had badges, and we offered one badge for each person who came inside the Fedora room. People were happy about this it seems. We could sell stickers as well and we gave as many Fedora live cds as we could. Some ambassadors took more back to give to relatives of friends. More than half of the CDs Matthieu could brought back from LinuxTag are away then, we will us the remaining ones for the RMLL.
We could also sign 2 or 3 CLA this week end, for new very active people in France who were not Ambassadors *yet*. :)
